Amped Wireless SR600EX Pro Smart Repeater: $179.99
Being a city dweller has its perks: culture, a melting pot of different people, take-out food anytime of the day. One thing that isn’t so great are the situations that can come up when living in an apartment, I don’t mean noisy neighbors or weird smells, I’m talking Wi-Fi dead zones. Amped Wireless came up with a solution to this annoying problem with the SR600EX Pro Smart Repeater.

It expands the range of a router or access point’s wireless network by repeating its signal with the 600mW power amplifier and high gain bi-directional antenna. That hardware allows the repeater to expand the range of a wireless network up to 1.5 miles away. The device is weatherproof and can be mounted indoors or outdoors (walls or poles) and the two additional network ports leave room for network switches or other devices. It’s being marketed for larger buildings and office spaces, as well as larger homes, but imagine how cool it would be to access your own personal network from the cafe next door, no fear of communal Wi-Fi there.
