Sonified App for iPhone/iPad: $1.99
Sometimes you get lucky and the opportunity to record a beautiful video of a sunset or a panorama of a mountain valley presents itself. But even if the moment is great, the background noise may be less than spectacular.
Sonified can help. This app samples color value and light information 25 times per second from the video and uses it to automatically create a sountrack in real time.

Before recording the video, first chose from one of four Sonified scenes from the main menu. Each has a different type of music that may correspond best to the video you're recording. Within the scenes, four “instruments” are used to analyze visual information and manipulate sound. For instance, the Luma instrument uses brightness values, while the Chroma instrument uses average hue values. The other two instruments use a variation of both Luma and Chroma and either 8 or 12 tracks for mixing sound. Check out the video example below. (Skip ahead to the 27-second mark for actual footage.)
Initially, I thought this app would be able to score every move someone made in front of the camera, but it only responds to changes in light. However, objects, including people, do affect light and could affect the music. A hike in the woods at dusk could reveal some amazing changes in light and scenery that can be accompanied by a lovely, yet nonintrusive, soundtrack.
