A solar handbag from the Danish design studio, DIFFUS, could make it stylish and practical for a fashionista to charge her electronic devices. The Solar Handbag has 100 silicon solar cells into woven into conductive embroidery, that collect sunlight and generat 2 Watts of usable energy stored on a lithium-ion battery.
Power from the battery is used not only to charge mobile devices, but also light up optical fibers inside of the bag. These turn on automatically when the bag is open, making it easy to locate keys, lipstick, charge cards or pepper spray!
If you buy the Solar Handbag, you can wear it with DIFFUS's Climate Dress (right), a garment that has sensors and more than a hundred LED lights woven into the fabric. The sensors detect CO2 in the air and relay that information to a tiny microprocessor. Depending on the concentrations of the gas, the lights pulse in varying patterns.
