The challenge is to be the first to submit the locations of 10 moored, 8-foot, red, weather balloons at 10 fixed locations in the continental United States. The balloons will go on display starting at 10 AM Eastern time until 4:00 PM local time tomorrow, December 5.
The hope is that teams of people will work together, using various social networking medium to locate the balloons. The first team to find all ten and enter the location coordinates and balloon numbers on the event Web site.
The contest was established to give the military new ideas to operate in a range of situations, from natural disasters to combat.
