Many of us stay in touch with friends and keep our pulse on "what's going on," by using Facebook and Twitter. Now some reporters are undergoing a special experiment to see just how much information they can glean by only using social media.

The Canadian, French, Belgian and Swiss reporters will spend five days in a secluded area and communicate with the outside world through only Facebook and Twitter. They will not watch television, listen to the radio or read any newspapers. Each day, the journalists will report on radio stations the news they have learned from their social media network

"Our aim is to show that there are different sources of information and to look at the legitimacy of each of these sources," said Helene Jouan, a senior editor at the radio station, France Inter.

The journalists will recount their experiences in a Twitter, here. It's in French. Sorry.
