Oona

The Oona: $29.95

We have become very reliant on our devices, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. They’re good for taking notes, watching how-to videos or helping us navigate. However, they do have a tendency to keep one hand tied up in circumstances when we should be using two. Sam, Brad and Danny, the guys who created Oona (derived from Latin “Una” meaning “one”) did so because they wanted something versatile that could hold different kinds of phone and be just as portable as the device itself.

The stand started out as a project on Kickstarter, and like most projects on the site, it surpassed its goal, so much so that the trio started Oona, LLC. and are even selling their invention on ThinkGeek. The stand’s design is simple, made with aircraft-grade aluminum and is small enough to fit in a pocket without being seen. Its two suction cups attach to any smart phone (up to 8oz) and stick on about any smooth surface, like mirrors, refrigerators or even airplane walls for personal in-flight entertainment. It’s not flashy, but it does exactly what you need it to do without any fuss. With such a fussy gadget hanging on it, that’s all one can ask for.
