TP File this under "I'll tell you where you can stick that report." Now it really will be possible to turn TPS reports into TP, thanks to a Japanese machine called the White Goat that recycles office paper into rolls of toilet paper.

Oriental Co. Ltd.'s giant machine works like this, from what I gather: Put office paper in a slot, the machine shreds it and removes non-paper stuff (whew), mixes it with water, and pulps it to create a very proper looking roll of toilet paper. According to a video report by DigInfo, making one roll requires 40 sheets of A4 paper and half an hour. The Goat goes on sale this summer...for a cool 100,000.

I agree with TreeHugger's Sami Grover, who points out that such a machine would be a huge investment, requiring energy to keep it running and space to house it. Recouping the cost would entail making an absurd amount of TP. While I don't think companies will be racing to buy one, in the future I do hope similar machines emerge that are far cheaper, faster, and more efficient. I can envision a time when corporations and large law firms have them in their stock rooms. The jokes alone will be worth it.
