If the iPhone had existed when I was taking biology in high school, this gadget definitely would’ve made looking at hair follicles through a microscope much more interesting. The Magnifi is an iPhone case with an adapter that will allow the phone to be hooked up to optical devices like microscopes, binoculars and telescopes.
The case helps align the camera on the phone with the microscope's eyepiece, for example. And then the case locks the phone in place. The mount is detachable from the case, which keeps the case slim when not being utilized for viewing. The entire two-piece unit is made of polycarbonate plastic and has a stainless steel mount that keeps it from obstructing the glass screen. The case is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter. As of today, they are halfway to their goal of $10,000, with 21 days to go.
