TVs The recent Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas made a splash with 3-D TV. Oh to have seen it. But, probably much like you, I was bundled up for winter instead. Here's green tech from the show that will haunt my dreams, with credit to the lucky ducks who saw it firsthand:

NAVTEQ's Green Streets  Digital map data provider NAVTEQ showed off how its Green Streets product will enable drivers to save fuel and cut carbon emissions by choosing better routes, optimize cruise control, and make other efficient adjustments, according to Inhabitat's Laura Diaz.

Embertec kills vampire power drain  Prototype devices from Embertec takes the thought process out of smarter electronics charging. Just plug one into your power strip and it turns into a charging brain, cutting the power supply when everything is ready and when electronics are turned off. As TreeHugger's Jaymi Heimbuch reports, new electronics won't even draw power unnecessarily.

LG's Organic LED TV  While the price sure can't beat my free mini hand-me-down TV, LG's new 15-inch OLED TV is razor thin, light, and ultra-efficient. It's also water-resistant so someone with money to spare could put one of these beauties in the bathroom. It only costs $2,000, Wired.com's Priya Ganapati writes. Yeah. I'd give OLED TVs a few more years to go down in the price department.

OnStar's mobile app for the Volt  When the plug-in hybrid electric Chevy Volt hits the market, which it's expected to do later this year, owners will be able to remotely control some of its behavior with mobile devices. OnStar's application will allow users to control how it charges, monitor battery power, and even brag about mileage, from US News & World Report and ZDNet's Matthew Miller.

The flip side of flashy electronics is Greenpeace's Guide to Greener Electronics, released at the same time as the show. Whether you agree with the rankings or not, the annual guide is a well-timed and much needed kick in the pants for the industry.
