The 21st century version of laser tag uses the iPhone.
Xappr connects to smartphones and uses an app to transform a futuristic plastic toy gun into “an augmented-reality shooting adventure,” says Chip Chick. This means you no longer have to pay for pricey gear and space. With Xappr’s guns, you can play laser tag whenever, wherever, so long as you have enough willing friends with iOS, Android or Windows smartphones.
The company will release a game that enables player-to-player combat, adding a few new toys, including guns, rifles, grenade launchers and pulse weapons. The multiplayer game will include death match, team and last man standing modes.
The Xappr guns will be available in the spring, but it is available for preorder for $45. They are on display at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
