Would You Pay $8,000 for a Camera that Shoots Only in Black and White?

Black-and-white photos have a certain nostalgia to them. But are people willing to shell out eight grand for a monochrome camera?

Leica’s betting they will. The M-Monochrom is a full-frame digital camera that doesn’t use a color filter, allowing more light and greater dynamic range. Still, even with improved sharpness, it’s a lot to ask people to forego color, let alone purchase one that costs several months’ rent.

For those interested, the Leica M-Monochrom will be available in August.
