Unlock the Stories of a City with Spotsi's User-Generated Tours

One of the best ways to explore a city you’ve never visited before is by asking a local, so you can get the inside scoop on the best places to sightsee, eat, drink, and be merry. But what if you don’t know anyone there? Well, (wait for it…) there’s an app for that.

Sure, grabbing a travel guide or heading to the local visitor’s center can net you some decent suggestions, but like all printed materials, they tend to be horribly out of date by the time you’re reading them. But digital resources can be updated in a flash, and some of the best content and travel suggestions come from those who aren’t trying to sell you anything – they just want to show you their world!

With the Spotsi app and website, locals can create their own tours of must-see attractions in their area, creating helpful narratives and uploading pictures of each attraction. Which means that all you as the visitor have to do is search for the types of things you’d like to do and see, and follow along.

Just a brief search through the tours set up so far gave me such diverse results as The NYC Punk Rock Tour, Family-style Portland (Portlandia with children), Vegetarian and Vegan Dallas, Manchester (England) Music Tour, Star Wars Location Spotting in Tunisia, and a Montreal Beer Tour.

With the simple-to-use Tour creation process, it’s easy to add a title, location, and summary of the tour, plus a thumbnail which represents it. Then, it’s a snap to add spots to the tour, including the name of the place, the address, a description, and a photo. So if you want to show visitors the best places to go buildering, the wackiest art, the places with the best selection of scotch, or the best parks to take a siesta in, Spotsi makes it easy to do so.
