Enough with the hi-def and digital already. Let’s shoot a short film on, well, film.
It’s been interesting to watch the rise of the digital camera, especially now that just about every mobile phone has a high-quality camera built into it. We can take tons of great pictures at high resolution, and we can upload them to share with the entire internet. But the most interesting thing to me about it is that the most popular camera apps are made to do one thing – to mimic analog photo filters.
The Lomokino aims to take this one step further – by bringing analog back to our videos as well:
The Lomokino uses any kind of 35mm film – color, B&W, slide – to record the movies, and it uses your own hand, cranking the shutter, to shoot each frame. Crank it fast or crank it slow, the choice is up to you – you get 144 frames from each roll of film.
At just $79, this little camera seems like a great gift for an aspiring filmmaker.
