With many more TouchPad owners out in the world thanks to insane firesales, HP, for a brief period Friday, offered them a number of free apps, normally retailing for $31. But looks like the company pulled the promotion, citing lack of inventory.

Huh, short on digital inventory?

I thinkGizmodo says it best.

We’re not entirely sure how you run out of a completely digital and conjured-up resource, but if anyone can manage it, we’re sure it’s HP. Maybe their printer is just acting up?

To be honest, none of the apps sounded that appealing, but everyone loves free stuff. Alas, if you didn’t get in on the deal, don’t cry too much. There were some novelties, games and a comprehensive guide of North American birds apparently. One of them would’ve been helpful though. Glimpse is a webOS app that improves multitasking capabilities of the TouchPad.

Whatever. If you got a tablet for $99, you’re still ahead.
