Fisherman's GoPro Captures Spectacular and Unexpected Footage of Dolphins (Video)

When four fishermen went albacore hunting off the coast of Santa Cruz, one of them decided to mount a GoPro to an underwater rig to capture video of tuna.

And while they were able to do so, they found some far more surprising and spectacular footage. A group of Pacific white-sided dolphins followed along A Salt Weapon, the name of their boat, for several minutes, and you can see the uncut footage in the video below, beginning at the 1:50 point. It’s breathtaking, and the picture quality is amazingly crisp under water.

 

The fisher who uploaded the video, Mark Peters, says the torpedo housing he created to steady the GoPro underwater cost about $50 to make. He is also considering producing the torpedo housing and might use Kickstarter to raise funding and sell the product.
