The TouchPad’s not-so-quiet death might actually be a (kind of) rebirth.
HP plans to produce another round of its (now) popular tablet before the end of the year, according to the company’s blog.
Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand. We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.
To recap, after HP announced it was killing off webOS, retailers had massive hardware firesales, making the TouchPad the cheapest tablet on the market, available for as low as $99. Suddenly everyone and his mom wanted a TouchPad.
Including you. Which is why HP has two Twitter accounts (@BrynaatHP and MarkatHP) that will update you on the latest batch of tablets’ whereabouts.
