Does a Smartphone Belong on the Dinner Table?

Slate takes on the issue of whether smartphones belong on the dinner table in a Manners for the Digital Age podcast.

Dear Prudence columnist Emily Yoffe said whipping out the cell phone is saying to your fellow dinner guests that nothing you say can be as interesting as what’s happening on my phone.

I personally am guilty to this habit — checking in, checking email, checking any buzz that comes my way and occasionally taking foodie photos. But consensus among the podcast personalities is, unless you’re waiting for an important work email, it’s rude. What about you?
