Erotic Kama Sutra App Details Sex in 3D

The world’s oldest how-to sex book is getting a 21st century makeover that will allow readers to view its erotic illustrations in 3D.

The latest version of the Kama Sutra — the ancient Sanskrit manual on human sexuality — comes with a free, augmented-reality app that turns the book’s illustrations into pop-up holograms for smartphones or tablets. Each image can be rotated 360 degrees so viewers can get more detailed perspective of each sexual position.

Dubbed Kama Xcitra, the app features 69 positions and lets users customize the hair and skin color of avatars modeling each position. Users can also add their own soundtrack to set the mood.

“For more than 2,000 years couples have turned to the Kama Sutra for advice and guidance on how to have a fulfilling love life, Hazel Cushion, managing director of publisher Xcite Books, told the Guardian. “But some of the more challenging positions, like the Prone Tiger, the Catherine Wheel or the Peg, have left readers a little baffled.”

“Each image appears to pop out of the page as a 3D hologram right in front of the reader’s phone,” Cushion said, according to NY Daily News. “The viewer then moves their mobile device around to appreciate the position from all angles. As a result, each position becomes clearer, finally solving the problem of where to put that awkward elbow.”

Curious couples looking to do a little “studying” can purchase that app on Amazon.com for around $15.
