If you don't now, you may someday soon. Range anxiety is a chief concern for those crafting the age of the electric vehicle. This niggling issue surfaces frequently in message boards like Linkedin's E2V4A board, or on blogs, like this first-hand account of a scare. Quelling the public's range anxiety is one reason the City of Houston is installing charging stations. They're using their fleet as a tool to get the charging stations out there, where at least some of those stations can be used by the public.
Other ways to deal with range anxiety are through vehicle design, and education. From the vehicle side, you can address the concern by going hybrid like the 40 mile Volt, or by stretching the range of your vehicle, like the 300 mile Tesla Model S. Education focuses on getting people to understand that range issues are mostly perceived, and not actual issues for most drivers, most days.
Of course if you want to see the future, to get a sense of how Houston's and other cities nascent charging infrastructure efforts might develop, go to California. Take a look at this listing of charging stations across the state. It's interesting to roll over the map pins to see who's providing the charging stations: shopping centers, motels, park-n-rides, restaurants, airports, universities, rest stops, RV parks.
