Today, 115 Roman Catholic cardinals locked themselves up inside the Vatican to discuss who will be the next pope. Each day they vote and in a tradition that’s as old as, well, a pope, the Vatican Conclave announces its decision and indecision with smoke. The smoke comes out of the chimney atop the Sistine Chapel — black smoke means no decision has been reached; white smoke means the opposite.
But if you’re not camped out in front of the chapel when the smoke blows, how will you be enlightened?
The Fellowship of Catholic University Students heard your laments, your gnashing of teeth and created a website to serve your papal need-to-know. Visit PopeAlarm.com to sign up for an email and/or mobile phone alert when the smoke turns white. When they announce the Habemus Papam, you’ll be among the first to know.
