Android Devices Have New Ally

Dock Boss: $22.95

Whether you like or not, a lot of companies are manufacturing devices that work with only Apple products, leaving Android and other users with few options. Before cuing the sad music and brooding over the injustice of it all, check out the dockBoss. It’s an audio input device with one side that fits into any 3.5mm jack and connects to docks with the adapter side.

The adapter end is powered by USB (so current USB docks are ideal), but if an older, FireWire dock is used the dockBoss has an internal converter that will allow it to power up. All the dockBoss is lacking is a way to keep devices charged while playing, but you can get it if you upgrade to the dockBoss+ for about $7 more. Even though this is a step in the right direction, the fact that there aren’t many docking stations that are “other” friendly is unbelievable.
