You may have noticed a slight change in Discovery News today, and no, you're not seeing things. For the past few months, the Discovery News, design and tech teams have been working hard to redesign the site and better incorporate the Discovery topic hubs (like space.discovery.com).
As you can see, the navigation has become a lot simpler (you don't need a map to find your way around!) and the the design a lot cleaner. This means we can deliver news, blogs, interviews, video, slide shows and all the other good stuff faster and more efficiently. There's a huge number of new features you'll find all over the site and my personal favorite enhancements are the super-sized Big Pics (look at this monster) and smooth slide shows.
Also, our topic hub bloggers (Jennifer, Irene and Ray) will be posting their articles directly into the dynamic feed of the landing page, giving their outstanding writing an equal footing as all of our other content.
As an extra bonus, we are gaining another space blogger, Robert Lamb from HowStuffWorks.com. Robert is already a regular space content contributor, so now you can hear his opinions on the topic too!
Throw all the brand new social features into the mix (yes, now you can leave comments on all of our content) and you have a nifty platform for you to receive excellent space news and opinion from a thriving group of professionals eager to show you the universe of human experience.
In this day and age where large media companies are making cuts in their science and technology coverage, Discovery News is taking this opportunity to show the world what we have been doing for the last 11 years: delivering cutting edge science reporting. Be a part of the experience and enjoy this redesign.
