Our sun may seem constant and unchanging from the ground, but when viewed from space, it's a whole different beast.
The star at the center of our solar system is constantly tossing radiation and plasma into space, and occasionally we're in its path. This year is a huge year for these solar storms, and Space.com has a great video explaining what they are and how they'll affect our planet.
