Petitions garnering 25,000 electronic signatures within 30 days will get an official government response, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The petition for the government to fess up to what it knows about extraterrestrial intelligence had gathered about 9,500 signatures as of Monday, making it the 20th most popular query in the White House's "We the People" project.
What's more important than learning about ET? Legalizing pot, apparently. The WSJ reports that five of the top 10 petitions involve reforming marijuana laws.
