Most of us rarely get the chance to experience zero gravity for any duration, apart from the occasional "hang time" on a roller coaster at our local Six Flags of something. But it's possible to simulate "zero G" conditions in specific types of airplanes, dubbed "vomit comets", which Wikipedia says is "a nickname for any fixed-wing aircraft that briefly provides a nearly weightless environment in which to train astronauts, conduct research, and film motion pictures." Ron Howard famously filmed parts of Apollo 13 aboard a "vomit comet."
And now, through the glories of YouTube, we find that such aircraft also offer the joys of weightlessness to our canine companions:
Note to pilots: next time, remember to strap in your dog. Although the pooch is surprising chill about the whole weightless experience. Perhaps s/he has hopes of being the next Laika -- just with less tragic results.
