Get Immersed In Mars: The moment NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity touched down on the Red Planet’s dusty surface, anticipation for the first hi-res color panorama grew.
Three weeks later, on Aug. 27, Curiosity’s Mastcam beamed back a set of photographs from inside Gale Crater, detailing the distant crater rim, an ominous-looking Aeolis Mons (a.k.a. Mount Sharp) and the plain — Aeolis Palus — surrounding the rover.
Now that the dust has settled and the rover is rolling across the Mars landscape, an interactive version of the 360 degree Mastcam panorama mosaic has been transformed into a beautiful, interactive experience.
Photographer Hans Nyberg, of Panoramas.dk, decided to give this famous Mars scene the interactive makeover. Go and get immersed in Mars! Enjoy. via Panoramas.dk
