…Or Become a Firefighter: Felix Baumgartner had the Discovery News team sitting on the edge of our seats when he took the plunge during the Red Bull Stratos skydive on Oct. 14. But now he’s broken the record for highest and fastest, what’s next for the inspirational daredevil?
In an interview with the BBC’s Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight, Baumgartner joked that he now wants to “break the speed of light.” But seriously, what could the 43-year-old Austrian do to top his epic journey to 128,000 ft?
“Honestly, I think it’s time to move on,” he said. “I want to inspire the next generation and maybe in 40 years there’ll be another guy calling me up, saying, ‘Hey Mr. Baumgartner, I want to break your record.’ So I will support that guy. In the meantime I’m flying helicopters — I’m also a commercial helicopter pilot — and I want to put my knowledge into public service and work as a firefighter or rescue people from mountains.” via BBC News
