Russian Critic Tweets His Bugging: An influential critic of the Russian government found that his office had been tapped, reports the New York Times.
Perhaps not so shocking, even in these post-Cold War days. But the way Aleksei Navalny handled the discovery was sure different: he tweeted the whole thing to his almost 275,000 followers.
From tweets, to twitpics of the device found behind the baseboard, to a whole video about the incident, Navalny appealed to experts among his following to help him identify what was going on.
But he didn't stop there; Navalny called the police, who arrived en masse with a wiretap expert. They found a hidden camera and also determined that the tap was equipped with a microphone.
In the video, Navalny said, “Honestly, I thought they’d hide them better.” via New York Times
