Although women go under the knife in the name of beauty in larger numbers, a new report shows an increase in plastic surgery among men in 2010.
Men's procedures jumped 2 percent from 2009, but the types of surgery men sought changed the most, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which gathered the data.

Facelifts saw a 14 percent spike, ear surgery procedures raised by 11 percent and liposuction and breast reduction surged as well in comparison to 2009. These aren't the top procedures, but rather the ones with the most growth.
Botox injections, laser hair removals and minimally invasive skin procedures were still the most popular among men, according to the report.
In 2010, men comprised 9 percent of all cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeries, with 1.1 million procedures, according to the report. The total numbers of surgeries among both sexes -- including minimally invasive procedures -- increased 5 percent from 12.5 million to 13.1 million since 2009. Less than 10 percent of all surgeries were reconstructive in nature, meaning they probably weren't for purely cosmetic reasons.

Why the jump in facelifts and cosmetic surgeries among men?
“The growth in cosmetic surgical procedures for men may be a product of our aging baby boomers who are now ready to have plastic surgery,” says Phillip Haeck, a board certified plastic surgeon and president of ASPS, in a press release. He suspects aging men are catching on to what plastic surgery has to offer -- a boost in confidence, even in middle to older age.
For women, breast implants, nose reshaping and liposuction remained at top of the list last year.
Plastic surgery isn't without risks, though. The U.S. government provides safety tips for those interested in plastic surgery or trying to find a reputable surgeon.
