In yet another creative example of the iPad’s integration into non-tech aspects of our life, for example in the kitchen, a new app from a fourth-generation master butcher brings meat into focus.
Big App for Meat is being described as the “definitive butcher’s guide to every cut of meat”, featuring New York master butcher Pat LaFrieda sharing generations of knowledge about over 200 cuts of meat, with 360° interactive views of the cuts and premium video footage demonstrating butcher techniques to learn for your own kitchen.
The app contains hi-resolution photos and detailed descriptions of the different cuts of meat, and users can view where on the animal the cuts come from, search for which ones are best for the dish you’re planning, and learn tips for purchasing meat.
If you’re feeling a little cocky, and think you already know as much as a master butcher, you can also test your meat knowledge with the “Great Meat 101 Quiz” and then challenge your friends with it.
Pat LaFrieda’s family has been in the wholesale meat business in NYC for almost 100 years, but for the first time ever, steaks and burgers will now be available to purchase directly from LaFrieda Meats online via the Big App for Meat.
Available from iTunes for $7.
