When I was a kid, my mom did not allow us to act out in public, to scream or run about like little fools. All she had to do was give us the “the look” if we started getting unruly, and we settled down. So I have little sympathy for parents with noisy, unmanageable children, who run around screaming in stores or restaurants.
At the Dee Why Grand shopping complex north of Sydney, such children will no longer be tolerated. After shopper filed complaints about loud children running amok in the food court, a notice was put up saying, “Stop. Parents please be considerate of other customers using the food court. Screaming children will not be tolerated in the center.”
The ban has sparked a debate with one group suggesting that people should show more sympathy toward parents and others wondering how such a ban would be enforced. And still others agree that parents and children need to be considerate of other people using public spaces.
