Why would anyone move to Alaska? A real estate website offers a new perspective: According to its Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness Rankings, Alaska is best prepared to survive a zombie attack.
“In a state where residents run from bears and moose, they will not be scared of slow-moving corpses,” says the Estately blog. “Alaska is packed with military personnel and veterans, and they’re only a fraction of the well-armed Alaskans prepared to shoot zombies from a moving snowmobile.”
The website used data from multiple sources (including the U.S. Census, Facebook and health rankings) to rate states in 11 categories: percentage of active military personnel, military veterans, physically active people, martial arts enthusiasts, people with survival skills, people with knowledge of zombies, laser tag enthusiasts, gun owners, obese people, paintball enthusiasts and triathletes.
Turns out, “rural states offer favorable survivability,” Estately says. Other top states include Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho (“Idahoans are physically active, heavily armed, and are hard to catch because they’re oddly really into parkour,”) New Mexico (with a high rate of triathletes), Montana, Arizona and Nevada.
Among the worst were several East Coast states, including, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Washington, D.C. (“Our nation’s capital has almost no knowledge of zombies, martial arts, or firearm ownership.”)
