Is it so surprising that in the midst of a Linsanity, people can go a little crazy? Last Friday, Ben & Jerry’s rolled out a Jeremy Lin-spired (can’t help it!) ice cream flavor called “Taste the Linsanity” at its shop in Harvard Square. It’s made with vanilla frozen yogurt and lychee honey swirls and- here’s the problem- broken up fortune cookies.
Popular backlash criticized Ben & Jerry’s for focusing on Lin’s Chinese heritage rather than any of his other characteristics, and the ice cream giant quickly beat a retreat, replacing the cookie bits with a fresh waffle cookie on the side.
