American Heavy Metal: Cast Iron Skillets Shaped Like Your Favorite States

This is a bit different from trying to drink your way around the world at your favorite brew spot, but then again, it’s not so different. Try frying your way across America, in your own kitchen, with these cast iron skillets shaped like all 48 states of the continental US.

These hand-poured skillets are not just another way to fry your bacon when camping (but they could be), they’re also works of art, worthy of displaying in your kitchen. The Made in America skillets are indeed, made in the US, by FeLion Studios in Wisconsin.

“Every state-shaped skillet is labeled with the FeLion Studios logo, and stamped with a production number. Each skillet comes with a custom made magnetic hanger that displays the pans neatly on the wall. This allows you to easily install the piece as wall art, use it, and re-hang your skillet simply by plunking it back onto the magnet for a clean and easy exhibition.”
Owner and artist Alisa Toninato makes the cast iron pans to order, and can do multiple-state orders, if you’d like to have your whole region. And if you really love cast iron, fried foods and America, and you have a big wall to display it on, the entire Made in America collection is available.

But before you go picking your pan based on your state loyalty, remember that these are all to scale, so the California pan might hold cornbread for the entire office, but Rhode Island will only serve up a tiny portion. And then of course, there’s cleaning duty to think of, so go for states like Colorado, North Dakota, Utah or Nevada if you’re looking for the easiest, and steer clear of Maryland and Michigan and other squiggly ones.
