Let’s face it, the White House has certainly seen its share of dogs over the years and this administration is no different. Oh come on, get a sense of humor. I am talking about the First Dogs – those Presidential pooches.
For instance, did you know that Abraham Lincoln’s dog, Fido, was assassinated too, by a knife-wielding drunk? Or that George H. W. Bush’s dog, Millie, was the subject of a book that sold more copies than his Presidential autobiography.
“We put this together because we were interested in what it said about a President by the type of dog he owned,” said Jason Macek, contributor to the TheDogTrainingSecret.com, a site that offers advice on how to train your dog without touching it. “We also thought people who come to the site will learn a little bit about the philanthropy we do to help dogs find homes.”
One of my personal favorite tidbits from the infographic is what might just be the most famous line about a dog uttered by a President, in this case, Harry S. Truman: “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog!”
