Cory Booker's 'Hot Sweet Colombian' Regret: DNews Nuggets

Twitter, According to the Social Media Mayor: Buzzfeed talked to Newark superhero (he recently pulled a woman out of a burning building) Mayor Cory Booker about how he uses Twitter. Turns out, Booker just sees it as part of his duties as mayor, according to Buzzfeed. ""People tweet me about issues all the time and I’m one step ahead of where my department heads are," Booker told Buzzfeed. "It still seems strange that people will tweet quicker than they’ll call our version of the 311 line. So it’s a very powerful tool for me to cull from my constituents issues and concerns, have a back and forth, clarify things." He does regret one tweet, though. It was a joke about Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina governor who disappeared for a week purportedly hiking on the Appalachian trail, but was actually with his Argentinian mistress. Booker's tweet — a joke to the effect of "if anyone’s looking for me I’m not on the Appalachian trail, I’m with a hot sweet Colombian blend." (4:58pm) via Buzzfeed

Pentagon Stops Using POW: The Pentagon tells Time Magazine that it stopped using the term "prisoner of war" in 2000. Instead, it now uses "Missing-Captured." This is news to people in the field, like the Red Cross, Time reports. "That's very interesting. I didn't know that," Simon Schorno, spokesman for the Washington, D.C. office of Internationa Red Cross, tells the magazine. (4:15 a.m.) via Time Magazine

Chimp Finds Hidden Camera: A hidden camera was recently installed at the Chimp Sanctuary Northwest in Washington state to observe seven chimpanzees rescued from a research lab that was testing an experimental hepatitis vaccine. But the camera was not hidden well enough. A 36-year-old female named Foxie found it and gave the lens a giant, chimp kiss. The camera also captured Foxie’s relationship with a toy doll she adopted. It seems that during her confinement, Foxie bore five babies, all of whom were taken from her in infancy. (3:00 p.m.) via TreeHugger

93-Year-Old Named Oldest Yoga Teacher: O.K. now you really have no excuse not to get in shape. Tao Porchon-Lynch is 93 years old and has a hip replacement but she is still a leading yoga teacher in her hometown of Hartsdale, N.Y. The Guinness World Records has named her the oldest yoga teacher on the planet, given her 63-year record of teaching. When her doctor told her she would have to give up yoga after her hip surgery, she would have none of it, saying, "I don't want to know what I won't be able to do because I don't believe it." Porchon-Lynch says she eats no special diet to stay healthy, but in addition to yoga she also likes to tango — this summer she's traveling to Puerto Rico to compete in a Tango competition, with a dance partner 69 years her junior. The initial call to emergency officials came in as a missing horse and later reports of it swimming out to sea sent state lifeguards, a nearby fire department and the Santa Barbara County's search and rescue team to the rescue.
