The Pill: For Men!: A gene was found in males that may finally lead to a contraception pill. Currently, contraception in men is largely down to condoms or a vasectomy, but a fertility expert told the BBC said there was "certainly a need" for such a drug. "The key in developing a non-hormonal contraceptive for men is that the molecular target needs to be very specific for either sperm or other cells in the testicle which are involved in sperm production." Wide-Bodied Plane…Seats: The skyrocketing weight of U.S. travellers is prompting Airbus to offer extra-wide seats on their planes — which will carry a fee, of course, The Global Post reports. The seats can be changed to two 19.6-inch seats from three 17.7 inchers, perfect for the overweight, "mothers with children…and large football players," an Airbus designer told journalists. Heftier passengers cost airlines more in fuel, so charging those who want it for a roomier seat seemed like a good idea. No word yet on how much more it will cost to spread out a little. A Very Tidy Robot: Guests are arriving in 20 minutes, you're not dressed and the place is a mess. Tidy robot to the rescue! Researchers in Cornell's Personal Robotics Lab have outfitted a robot with algorithms that enable it to survey a messy room and figure out what goes where — a place for everything and everything in its place. Well, almost. The robot was up to 98 percent successful in identifying and placing objects it had seen before in the right place. When it came to new, unfamiliar objects, its record wasn't quite as strong — 80 percent. Nonetheless, put this robot to work and the room will be cleared and you'll likely find most things where they belong: "It learns not to put a shoe in the refrigerator," said graduate student Yun Jiang.
