Models Go All Digital: Computer technology has reached the point fashion models are no longer needed to sell fashions. SmartMoney is reporting "Swedish fashion retailer H&M and French flash-sale site Vente-privee… both use computer-generated models in their advertising."
The computer generated models look similar to current supermodels, but somehow better. There are no asymmetrical features, flaws or – to be frank – real people. Instead, the "perfectly sculpted vision of the female body remains the same from image to image," they write.
The author goes on to point out, the unrealistic expectations young people have for their bodies is already damaging, and this takes it to a new extreme. Advertisers are now creating a new, fictitious and unachievable level of beauty. The businesses claim they'll save money not having to dress models in varying outfits.
