China Jails Doomsday Believers:
Thirty-seven members of a church group were arrested for spreading rumors about doomsday, according to The
Guardian.
The Church of the Almighty God, founded a decade ago, believes that a female Jesus will be
reincarnated in China and that the Communist Party needs to go.
Apparently, it also proports that doomsday
is real, adding to the general cacaphony in China about the supposed Dec. 21 deadline for the world to end
with three days of darkness. Candle sales are up across the country.
The Guardian quotes the state-run
Global Times as reporting a text message from the group saying: "A big eye was found in the sun on 9
December in Beijing, and female Jesus manifested herself with her name. Great tsunamis and earthquakes are
about to happen around the world."
