Breast Cancer Survivor Swims Topless
Jodi Jaecks beat breast cancer, but with casualties. Her double-mastectomy caused her nerve pain and drugs, physical therapy and pain treatments all failed to stem the pain caused by her raw nerves. She wanted to try swimming at a local pool because the "water sounded soothing," but she had trouble finding a swimsuit that fit her body.
She asked the pool if she could swim topless, as she had neither breasts not nipples, but the Seattle-based pool turned her down. She fought the decision and eventually an exception was made, and "other breast cancer survivors, would have to be reviewed on a 'case-by-case' basis." However, last week a policy shift was hinted to be in the works. via NBC Today
