Apartheid Israel Gains Support: Less than a
third of Israelis polled recently "objected to calling Israel an 'apartheid state,'" The Globe and Mail
reports.
The survey of 503 Israelis by the top newspaper Haaretz also found that almost a third of Jewish poll
answerers would remove the voting rights of Arabs.
Nearly half wanted Arabs just plain out of Israel, four
out of 10 wouldn't want to live in the same building as Arabs or have Arab children in their schools.
The
newspaper said its poll showed “anti-Arab, ultra-nationalist views espoused by a majority of Israeli
Jews.” Israel faces national elections in January 2013.
