Sunken Nazi Dive Bomber Coming Up: A Stuka dive bomber resting on the floor of the Baltic Sea will soon see the light of day again after 70 years under water.
The sunken "Sturzkampfflugzeug," Stuka for short, is one of three Junkers JU87s in the world, reports Eastday.com, though the two already on dry land are later models.The single-engine plane made a unique screaming sound as it dived toward the ground to bomb or strafe its targets.
The plane sits in about 55 feet of water and German military divers are bringing it up in parts, according to the German Military Historical Museum in Dresden. via Eastday.com and Underwater Times
