Superorganismic Sea Monster Spotted Off New Zealand

Nz-sea-monster If you find it far-fetched to call this Oct. 25 phytoplankton bloom off the east coast of New Zealand a 'monster,' think again. There's growing evidence that the billions of single-celled creatures that comprise such blooms are working together in a way that closely resembles a single very large organism -- a superorganism.
