Dec. 12, 2010 -- A massive winter storm that formed in the Rocky Mountains swept across eight states in the upper Midwest this weekend, dumping heavy snowfall.
The snow was so heavy in Minneapolis that it collapsed the city's inflatable roof of the Metrodome on Sunday. No one was hurt, but the roof failure sent the NFL scrambling to find a new location for a Viking's game scheduled against the New York Giants.
Here, a good Samaritan tried to help free a woman's car from the snow in St. Paul, Minn. on Saturday.
The winter system also brought frigid temperatures to the upper Midwest. According to the Associated Press, arctic air was expected to drop temperatures below zero by Sunday night throughout the Dakotas and in parts of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
