The world's rarest wolf is probably also the one that's had the longest relationship with humans -- the Ethiopian wolf. These canines are hemmed in on a few mountain "islands" of high altitude flanking Africa's Great Rift Valley. Global warming is shrinking their range while diseased domestic dogs are bringing them new and deadly diseases.
