Maria Banks recently shot this picture of her guide, Cheryl Parker, in an Antarctic ice cave. Maria started out as a harpist who admired glaciers from her vantage point playing for guests on Alaskan cruises. Now she's a scientist with a team of researchers living and working in Antarctica for three months. She's blogging from there for the new website Adventures in Climate Change. Maria and her colleagues are investigating the past by drilling deep into the ice shelf in the hopes of shedding some light on Earth's climate over the ages.
