"Well, yes. I suppose the Earth IS kinda having sex with a coronal mass ejection right now," tweeted Discovery News Space Producer Ian O'Neill late Monday night. The first announcement from SpaceWeather.com came just in time for Brian Emfinger to run outside and snap this photo in Ozark, Ark.
PHOTOS: What is the Aurora Borealis?
Over in Cross Plains, Wisc., Randy Halverson saw the aurora storm so bright, it "lit up the ground."
Jim Hammer in Wichita, Kansas, couldn't see it with the naked eye, but his 10.5mm Nikon Fisheye, captured the stars over a red sky with a 2 minute exposure.
In Buffalo, NY, @news4buffalo tweeted Dan Salmons picture from tonight's sky.
So DNews readers, did you see tonight's aurora? Send us your pix and let us know. We'll put together a slideshow of the event to share.
In the meantime check out Brian Emfinger's video of the storm over Ozark:
