May 24, 2012 -- Following the lead of Tropical Storm Alberto, which claimed the first named storm of the season, Hurricane Bud is kicking out of the starting gate early and launching what was forecasted to be a slow season, with only 10 storms expected to get named.
Hurricane Bud is moving with sustained winds of 90 mph north-northeast at 7 mph across the Caribbean Sea and into the Gulf of Mexico. But Bud's quick arrival is likely to be followed by a quick departure as it enters cooler waters and encounters increasing southerly shear and a drier more stable environment, according to NOAA.
