May 11, 2010 -- This gray whale is probably hopelessly lost in the Atlantic Ocean, experts say, given that it's swimming in the wrong part of the world for its species.
In fact, there have been no gray whales in the Atlantic since the eighteenth century, when they were essentially hunted to extinction in that body of water.

In this photo is a gray whale that's been spotted off the coast of Israel. Scientists speculate that it ended up there by navigating through a melted Northwest Passage.
