Fukishima Beach Reopens: DNews Nugget

Fukishima Beach Reopens: A popular beach next to the Fukishima nuclear power plant in Japan that melted down in 2011 has reopened for the first time since the accident, reports The Guardian.

Nakoso beach is 40 miles south of the plant and authorities say the water is safe. Radiation in the water is barely present, they say, and radiation in the air is well below what's considered a health threat.

Of the 17 beaches in the Fukishima prefecture, Nakoso is the only one to be reopened. via The Guardian
